Growing Problem: Methamphetamine Manufacturing in the Davidson County Area

Wow, this is a head-scratcher. Did you see this post? The gist of it is that when the supply of meth dried up in Minnesota, desperate drug abusers were forced to turn to heroin instead. I am now calling this my "Conservation of Junkies" theory- same number of junkies, just different drugs depending on supply. In Minnesota they went from hopped-up, hyper junkies to spaced-out, lazy junkies, but no qualitative diff either way.

In this case, we have too much meth being produced in North Carolina. This is certainly a growing problem, but is it really a good idea to crack down (so to speak) and just condemn people to a life of heroin?

I guess the only ethical thing to do is figure which is worse for the drug addled- meth or smack? Darned if I know.
